The Old Penny Bank Details
'The Old Penny Bank' is a 1 bedroom cottage. The accommodation has lounge, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. There is an additional sofa bed if required.(Please request on booking)

The cottage was originally a shop. The cottage had a doorway through to next door (Ribston Pippin) where the shopkeeper used to live. No 2(Ribston Pippin) later became a separate house. Please see the old photographs displayed.
The shop later became, 'The Trustee Savings bank' also known as a 'Penny Bank'. Penny Bank's originated in 1859 as an example of Victorian thrift. The movement originally grew in Yorkshire, centred around the industrial mill towns of Leeds, Bradford etc. When the Penny Bank closed it became a shop again in the early 1980's and shortly afterwards it was converted to a dwelling.
The comfortable lounge area has a sofa, coffee table and wall mounted smart TV. The room also houses a dining table tucked under the stairs This dining area with fold out extending leaf also forms a work area with good access to plug sockets. It is well lit and the internet is fibre and high speed.
The heating is provided by a smart radiator and there is also a air conditioning unit which is controlled by the remote if required.
The stairs ascend in the room to the upstairs landing. Turn left into the bathroom
The large walk in shower has a glass screen. There is a Bristan electric shower to provide good pressure and a good flow of water for a refreshing drench. The wash basin stands on its base unit The toilet is tucked alongside. the heated towel rail keeps your towel fresh and dry. A wall mounted fan heater enables the room to be warm whatever the weather and an extractor ensures condensation is removed
Opposite is the bedroom. The Oak double bed has a bedside table to the left with a bedside lamp. A chest of drawers is available for clothing etc complete with a hairdryer. The walk in cupboard houses a washer dryer( with detergent and conditioner), Cordless vacuum cleaner, ironing board, iron and plenty of hanging space.
There is a bedroom electric programmable radiator.
The fully equipped kitchen has everything to be self sufficient. An induction hob together with a microwave and extractor is on the left. The undercounter fridge has a small ice box. there is cutlery, pots and pans and crockery for 4 persons.
There is parking to the rear of the cottage. it is shared parking and may not always be available. There are 2 EV chargers located here for cottage use. Parking on the High street is always available and it is generally a quiet street, as it is not a village through road. However the local service buses use the route through to the marketplace so please park carefully and with consideration.
